Girls Don't Fly

Monika Grassl
Lydia, Tina, Hamdiatu and Esther have a bright future ahead of them – soon they will be pilots. Coming from rural Ghana, they would typically take care of the household and children. Girls Don‘t Fly dives into the daily routine of AvTech Academy, founded by the NGO Medicine on the Move. Narrating the story of four young Ghanian girls learning to fly, the film showcases the cultural diversity on display and the contradictions that arise when Western ideals meet African values. What does the reality behind this ambitious project really look like?
