Viehjud Levi

Levi, the Cattle Dealer

The year is 1935, a valley in the Black Forest. Levi the cattle dealer arrives in the valley just like every year to do business. In addition, he has decided to win the heart and hand of Lisbeth Horger, a local farmer’s daughter. But Levi senses a change in the valley. The railway company sent the engineer Fabian Kohler and a troop of workers to repair a tunnel, and a new spirit entered the closed world of the Black Forest valley with them. A moment of decision has come for Lisbeth; she must choose between her friend Paul Braxmaier and Levi. The subtle changes affect the other valley-dwellers also: Horger refuses to sell his cows to Levi; flags with swastikas decorate the local inn; the tires on Levi’s truck are slashed. A familiar world turns hostile and strange. Except for Lisbeth, no one stands up for Levi. But the times are against their love.
