CASANOVA VARIATIONS
directed by Michael Sturminger (Amour Fou Vienna (A), Alfama Films (F), X Filme Creative Pool (D), Ulrich Seidl Filmproduktion (A))

In the heat of the summer. An isolated house in the countryside between woods and corn fields. Ten-year-old twins wait for their mother. When she comes back, her head wrapped in bandages after plastic surgery, nothing is as it was before. Stern and distant now, she shuts the family off from the outside world. Starting to doubt that this woman is actually their mother, the boys are determined to find the truth by any means.

IN THE BASEMENT
directed by Ulrich Seidl (Ulrich Seidl Filmproduktion (A))

The film is about people and basements and what people do in their basements in their free time.
The film is about obsessions.
The film is about brass-band music and opera arias, about expensive furniture and cheap male jokes, about sexuality and shooting, fitness and fascism, whips and dolls.
A film essay that is both funny and sad, it uses the director's characteristic film tableaux to delve into the underground of the Austrian soul.
