With a heavy heart, Daniel Käfer prepares to begin a new career. But his journey ends abruptly in Hallstatt. His acquaintance with young Gerd Gamsjäger and his mother leads to a number of dramatic events. Käfer, as a result of his cockiness, causes an accident in which his young friend almost dies. In an attempt to make up for it, he gets into real trouble.
