Right at the heart of the world of art and its public representation, yet in the shadows. This is the normal place of museum attendants. Featuring four attendants at Vienna's 'Museum of Applied Arts' (MAK), it displays the monotony of everyday life in a museum while at the same time revealing the stories of the sometimes turbulent lives of the attendants, following them a little way into their private spheres. Giving them the opportunity to share their views on contemporary art which surrounds them every day, the film shows how the confrontation with art affects their personal lives. The conversation with the attendants offers an unusual but instructive view of the art scene from both inside and outside at the same time.
