TONI ERDMANN  in the race for Foreign Language Award

Maren Ade’s Toni Erdmann on a roll: After sweeping the five major distinctions at the European Film Awards, the German-Austrian co-production was announced to be on the Oscar shortlist for the Foreign Language Award together with eight more candidates. The five nominations for the 89th Oscars will be revealed on January 24.
 

The shortlisted films, selected from 85 submissions, are:

Tanna by  Bentley Dean, Martin Butler (Australia)
It’s Only the End of the World by  Xavier Dolan (Canada)
Land of Mine by  Martin Zandvliet (Denmark)
Toni Erdmann by Maren Ade (Germany)
The Salesmann by Asghar Farhadi (Iran)
The King’s Choice by Erik Poppe (Norway)
Paradise by  Andrei Konchalovsky (Russia)
A Man Called Ove by Hannes Holm (Sweden)
My Life as a Zucchini by Claude Barras (Switzerland)

The ceremonies will be held on February 26 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
