CORSAGE is the Austrian entry for Best International Feature Film

Marie Kreutzer’s CORSAGE, starring Vicky Krieps, is the Austrian entry to the Oscar race for Best International Feature Film. Vicky Krieps is the winner of the Best Actress Award at Cannes Un Certain Regard and the Heart of Sarajevo for her outstanding performance in the role of Empress Elisabeth.

The statement of the Austrian Oscar committee:
Marie Kreutzer has created an Elisabeth with  rough edges. Her Austrian empress is  a modern woman, impressively interpreted by Vicky Krieps, CORSAGE is a timeless approach on a woman's attempt to break out of the social shackles imposed on her.
Brilliantly directed and outstandingly cast, the film is compelling in its combination of striking images, first-rate costume, scenic and make-up design, and remarkable music. Through its poetic language, its elegant images and its visual and narrative power, CORSAGE succeeds in being an all-around exciting film experience with a contemporary and female gaze on both – the past and the present
