Exit - Do Not Panic

Franz Novotny
Kirchhoff has a petty bourgeoise dream of himself as a small entrepreneur. He wants to open a café with two pinball machines and a waitress, he wants to travel, spend money and have women friends who spoil him... After various experiences, Kirchhoff realizes that his dream will never come true... Vienna's underworld, mitigated by abuse, disturbed open-air sexual acts, gang wars in miniature and numerous fights. There is theft, robbery, and violence - 'action' is always en vogue. "Everything is done with style, the actors portray macho types, the camera smirks and lets one idea chase the other, and in the dialogue in jargon, the points whistle like the bullets of pistols in American gangster film." (Fritz Walden, "Arbeiterzeitung", November 7, 1980) Tragic-comedy about Kirchhoff, a consumer-orientated petty bourgois.
