Headlock

John Cook
Hermann Holub is in his middle twenties and still lives at home with his parents. When he avoids a conflict at his place of work by quitting his job as a garden worker, his life becomes insecure. He loses one job after the other and abruptly stops seeing his girl friend, Vera, an office employee. However, he starts meeting Ehrlich, a former school comrade but the latter is more interested in Hermann's "sayings" than in his problems. He secretly records them in order to be able to use them in his dialect poems. After coming to blows with his brother, Hermann lands in prison. After being released, he returns home but his father throws him out. However, Hermann has gotten a grip upon himself. He gets a job as a trucker, moves in with Vera and stays with her although he is not the father of the baby she is awaiting. He has learned to cope with life and no longer feels that he is a victim... '...This film tries to treat seriously the ordinary life which most people (have to) lead... an everyday story...' (Helmut Zenker)
