Die Wahlkämpfer tracks the phenomenon of the Austrian Freedom Party. Dispensing with the most common explanation for the party's success, the charisma of its formerly official and now behind-the-scenes chairman, Jörg Haider plays a secondary role in this film. Instead, the people who have made his political successes possible are given an opportunity to speak.
