The Excursion wants to describe the relations between three persons: father, mother, son, members of a middle-class family which represents in some way our modern "consumer society". To observe them during a Sunday excursion is just a pretext to discover their life in its most simple expression, the daily coexistence. The film tries to depict this situation in a realistic and precise way - without drawing a moral from it - as a spectator of something that happens around us every day.
