Darwin's Nightmare, directed by Hubert Sauper, was awarded with the Label Europa Cinemas - Venice Days, devoted uniquely to the films selected by the first edition of the Giornate degli Autori on the occasion of the 61st Mostra d'Arte Cinematografica di Venezia. The Jury has unanimously agreed to award the film with the following motivation: to an outstanding documentary showing the terrible effects of globalisation in Afrika. Darwin's Nightmare, first long film by Hubert Sauper, will be helped in its European distribution by the Europa Cinemas label, which is aimed at supporting circulation and promotion in the theatres of the network.
