The Fancine Fantastic Film Festival of the University of Málaga awards Hinterland with the prize for Best Screenplay. The hunt for an obsessed serial killer set in a desolate Vienna a couple of years after
the end of WW1 was written by Hanno Pinter and Robert Buchschwenter in collaboration with the film's director Stefan Ruzowitzky.
