CRITERIA

Feature-length Austrian theatrical films (minimum 70 min and majority Austrian
(co-)productions) that meet the following criteria:

• The production company is registered in Austria
• Selective production funding from the Austrian Film Institute (ÖFI)
• A regular nationwide theatrical release in Austria with a fixed evening program slot on seven consecutive days by one of these Austrian distributors* (no in-house distribution): Constantin Film, filmdelights, Filmgarten, Filmladen Filmverleih, Luna Filmverleih, Panda Lichtspiele Filmverleih, Polyfilm Verleih, Stadtkino

* The distributors must include international independent theatrical films in their catalogue and must have released at least three ÖFI-funded Austrian feature films within the past five years.


EXCEPTIONS

 

Exceptions to “Selective production funding from the ÖFI”

• Directorial debut films with funding from both the BMWKMS and the ÖFI+.
• Films with funding from the BMWKMS whose directors have previously been represented by AUSTRIAN FILMS with another film.

Exceptions to “Distribution”

• Invitations to Sundance (World Cinema Competition), Rotterdam (Tiger Competition), Berlin (Official Selection, Forum), Cannes (Official Selection, Quinzaine des Cinéastes, Semaine de la Critique), Locarno (Official Selection), Venice (Official Selection, Giornate degli Autori, Settimana Internazionale della Critica), San Sebastián (Main Competition), Amsterdam IDFA (Main Competition, non-competitive sections in the case of a world premiere), CPH:DOX (Main Competition, side competitions in the case of a world premiere)
• Films that have won the main prize in the main competition at Karlovy Vary IFF, Hot Docs, Nyon or DOK Leipzig.

• Viewing of the film
• Consulting & development of an international festival strategy
• Festival booking: submissions, pitching, provision of screening and PR materials, fee negotiations,...
• PR activities across our communication channels, interviews,...

Basic service for films that are not (yet) represented by one of the distributors listed under Criteria:

• Viewing of the film by AUSTRIAN FILMS
• International visibility in the Coming Soon-section of the AUSTRIAN FILMS website
• Pitching at meetings with international partners

 
 

KRITERIEN

Programmfüllende österreichische Kinofilme (mindestens 70 min und majoritär österreichische (Ko-)Produktionen), die folgende Kriterien erfüllen:

• Die Produktionsfirma ist in Österreich angemeldet
• Selektive Herstellungsförderung vom ÖFI
• Regulärer österreichweiter Kinostart mit einem fixen Abendprogrammplatz an sieben aufeinanderfolgenden Tagen durch einen dieser österreichischen Verleih* (kein Eigenverleih): Constantin Film, filmdelights, Filmgarten, Filmladen Filmverleih, Luna Filmverleih, Panda Lichtspiele Filmverleih GmbH, Polyfilm Verleih, Stadtkino.

* Der Verleih hat internationale Independent-Kinofilme im Programm und hatte in den letzten fünf Jahren mindestens drei vom ÖFI geförderte österreichische Langfilme im Katalog.

AUSNAHMEN

Ausnahmen zu "Selektive Herstellungsförderung vom ÖFI"

• Regiedebütfilme mit einer Förderung sowohl vom BMWKMS als auch von ÖFI+
• Filme mit einer Förderung vom BMWKMS, deren Regisseur:innen zuvor bereits mit einem anderen Film durch AUSTRIAN FILMS vertreten waren.

Ausnahmen zu "Verleih"

• Einladung Sundance (World Cinema Wettbewerbe), Rotterdam (Tiger Wettbewerb), Berlin (Official Selection, Forum), Cannes (Official Selection, Semaine de la Critique, Quinzaine des Cineastes), Locarno (Official Selection), Venedig (Official Selection, Giornate degli Autori, Settimana lnternazionale della Critica), San Sebastián (Hauptwettbewerb), Amsterdam IDFA (Hauptwettbewerb, nicht-kompetitive Sektionen falls Weltpremiere), CPH:DOX (Hauptwettbewerb, Nebenwettbewerbe falls Weltpremiere)
• Hauptpreis im Wettbewerb Karlovy Vary IFF, Hot Docs, Nyon oder DOK Leipzig

Serviceleistung von für Filme in Vertretung durch AUSTRIAN FILMS

• Sichtung des Films
• Beratung & Entwicklung einer internationalen Verwertungsstrategie
