CRITERIA

Feature-length theatrical films (minimum 70 minutes and majority Austrian (Co-)Productions) meeting the following criteria can be represented by AUSTRIAN FILMS in their international activities:

1. The production company is registered in Austria.
2. Production funding from Austrian Film Institute (or from the BMWKMS, if the director has previously had a film represented by AUSTRIAN FILMS).
3. Theatrical release on a national scale in Austria with a fixed evening screening slot for seven consecutive days by an Austrian distributor* (no in-house distribution) from this list.

* The distributors must include international independent films in their catalogue and must have ditributed a minimum of three Austrian feature films supported by the Austrian Film Institute over the past five years.

Exceptions can be made for films that:

• Have been invited to one of the following festivals in the specified sections:

-      Sundance (World Cinema Competitions)
-      Rotterdam (Tiger Competition)
-      Berlin (Official Selection, Forum)
-      Cannes (Official Selection, Semaine de la Critique, Quinzaine des Cinéastes)
-      Locarno (Official Selection)
-      Venice (Official Selection, Giornate degli Autori, Settimana Internazionale della Critica)
-      San Sebastián (Competition)
-      Amsterdam (Main Competition, non-competitive sections if world premiere)
-      CPH:DOX (Main Competition, side competitions if world premiere)

• Have won the main prize in one of the competitions at Karlovy Vary IFF, Hot Docs, Nyon, or DOK Leipzig.
   

SERVICES PROVIDED by AUSTRIAN FILMS for REPRESENTED FILMS

• Viewing by AUSTRIAN FILMS
• Consultation & development of an international exploitation strategy
• Festival booking (screenings via link or in Vienna, pitching to partners, provision of screening and PR materials, fee negotiations...)
• PR work (international visibility through our communication channels, interviews...)

BASIC SERVICES for films that do (yet) not meet criterion 3:

• Viewing by AUSTRIAN FILMS
• International visibility in the coming soon section on the website
• Pitching during meetings with international partners

 

KRITERIEN

Programmfüllende österreichische Kinofilme (mind. 70 min und majoritär österreichische (Ko-)Produktionen), die folgende Kriterien erfüllen, können von AUSTRIAN FILMS vertreten werden:
 

1. die Produktionsfirma ist in Österreich angemeldet
2. Herstellungsförderung vom ÖFI (bzw. vom BMWKMS, falls die Regie zuvor bereits einen Film in Vertretung durch AUSTRIAN FILMS hatte)
3. regulärer österreichweiter Kinostart mit einem fixen Abendprogrammplatz an sieben aufeinanderfolgenden Tagen durch einen österreichischen Verleih* (kein Eigenverleih) aus dieser Liste.

* Der Verleih hat internationale Independent-Kinofilme im Programm und hatte in den letzten fünf Jahren mindestens drei vom ÖFI geförderte österreichische Langfilme im Katalog.

Ausnahmen sind möglich für Filme,

• die eine Einladung von einem der folgenden Festivals in die genannten Sektionen erhalten haben:

  – Sundance (World Cinema Wettbewerbe)
  – Rotterdam (Tiger Wettbewerb)
  – Berlin (Official Selection, Forum)
  – Cannes (Official Selection, Semaine de la Critique, Quinzaine des Cinéastes)
  – Locarno (Official Selection)
  – Venedig (Official Selection, Giornate degli Autori, Settimana Internazionale della Critica)
  – San Sebastián (Hauptwettbewerb)
  – Amsterdam (Hauptwettbewerb, nicht-kompetitive Sektionen falls Weltpremiere)
  – CPH:DOX (Hauptwettbewerb, Nebenwettbewerbe falls Weltpremiere)

• den Hauptpreis in einem der Wettbewerbe von Karlovy Vary IFF, Hot Docs, Nyon oder DOK Leipzig gewonnen haben.
   

SERVICELEISTUNG von AUSTRIAN FILMS für FILME IN VERTRETUNG
 

• Sichtung des Films durch AUSTRIAN FILMS
• Beratung & Entwicklung einer internationalen Verwertungsstrategie
• Festival Booking (Sichtungen per Link oder in Wien, Pitching bei Partnern, Bereitstellung der Vorführ- und PR-Materialien, Fee-Verhandlungen...)
• PR-Arbeit (Internationale Sichtbarkeit auf unseren Kommunikationskanälen, Interviews...)

 
BASISLEISTUNG für Filme, die Punkt 3 der Richtlinien (noch) nicht erfüllen:
 

• Sichtung des Films durch AUSTRIAN FILMS
• Internationale Sichtbarkeit in der Coming Soon-Sektion auf der Website
• Pitching bei Meetings mit internationalen Partnern
