VERTRETUNGSKRITERIEN

---

 

Programmfüllende österreichische Kinofilme (mindestens 70 min, mit majoritär österreichischem Produktionsanteil), die folgende Kriterien erfüllen, können von AUSTRIAN FILMS (AF) vertreten werden:

• Die Produktionsfirma ist in Österreich angemeldet.
• Der Film hat eine selektive Herstellungsförderung vom Österreichischem Filminstitut (ÖFI) erhalten.
• Der Film startet regulär österreichweit im Kino über einen der folgenden österreichischen Verleihe* (kein Eigenverleih): Constantin Film, filmdelights, Filmgarten, Filmladen Filmverleih, Luna Filmverleih, Panda Lichtspiele Filmverleih, Polyfilm Verleih oder Stadtkino Filmverleih** – und erhält an sieben aufeinanderfolgenden Tagen einem fixen Abendprogrammplatz.

* Der Verleih hat internationale Independent-Kinofilme im Programm und hatte in den letzten fünf Jahren mindestens drei vom ÖFI geförderte österreichische Langfilme im Katalog.
** New Voices Filme qualifizieren sich für die AF-Basisleistung, aber nicht für die Vertretung.

AUSNAHMEN

Ausnahmen sind möglich 

1. bei Filmen, die sowohl vom BMWKMS als auch von ÖFI+ eine Herstellungsförderung erhalten haben, sofern es sich um Regiedebütfilme* handelt oder um Filme von Regisseur:innen, die bereits mit einem anderen Film bei AUSTRIAN FILMS vertreten wurden. 

* Regiedebütfilme: Zuvor darf kein Langfilm (mind. 70 min) der Regisseurin bzw des Regisseurs im Kino, auf einer Plattform oder auf einem Festival gezeigt worden sein. 

2. bei einer Festivaleinladung zu einem der folgenden Festivals und Sektionen: 
- Sundance Film Festival: World Cinema Dramatic Competition, World Cinema Documentary Competition
- International Film Festival Rotterdam: Tiger Wettbewerb
- Berlinale: Wettbewerb, Berlinale Special, Perspectives, Panorama, Generation, Forum
- CPH:DOX: DOX:AWARD Competition, weitere Wettbewerbe nur bei Weltpremiere
- Festival de Cannes: Compétition, Un Certain Regard, Hors Compétition, Séance de Minuit, Cannes Première, Séances Spéciales, Semaine de la Critique, Quinzaine des Cinéastes, ACID
- Karlovy Vary International Film Festival: Competitions
- Locarno Film Festival: Concorso Internazionale, Concorso Cineasti del Presente, Fuori Concorso, Piazza Grande
- Venice International Film Festival: Concorso Internazionale, Fuori Concorso, Orizzonti, Venezia Spotlight, Giornate degli Autori, Settimana lnternazionale della Critica
- Toronto International Film Festival: Gala Presentations, Special Presentations, Discovery, Platform, Centrepiece, TIFF Docs, Midnight Madness
- San Sebastián International Film Festival: Competitions
- IDFA: International Competition, nicht-kompetitive Sektionen nur bei Weltpremiere

3. beim Gewinn des Hauptpreises im Wettbewerb zu einem der folgenden Festivals:
- Visions du Réel Nyon
- DOK Leipzig 

SERVICELEISTUNGEN

SERVICELEISTUNG FÜR DIE AF-VERTRETUNG:

• Sichtung des Films durch AUSTRIAN FILMS
• Beratung und Entwicklung einer internationalen Verwertungsstrategie
• Festival Booking: Pitching, Einreichungen, Bereitstellung der Vorführ- und PR-Materialien, Verhandlung von Vorführgebühren etc...
• PR-Arbeit über die Kommunikationskanäle von AF, Interviews, etc.

 

AF-BASISLEISTUNG:
Ein Film, der noch keinen österreichischen Verleiher gefunden hat, aber die übrigen Kriterien 1 und 2 bereits erfüllt, kann die AF-Basisleistung in Anspruch nehmen:

• Sichtung des Films durch AUSTRIAN FILMS
• Internationale Sichtbarkeit in der Rubrik "Coming Soon" auf der Website
• Pitching bei Meetings mit internationalen Partnern
   

 

CRITERIA

---

Feature-length Austrian theatrical films (minimum running time 70 min, with a majority Austrian production share) that meet the following criteria may be represented by AUSTRIAN FILMS (AF):

• The production company is registered in Austria.
• The film has received selective production funding from the Austrian Film Institute (ÖFI).
• The film has a regular nationwide theatrical release in Austria with one of the following Austrian distributors*(no self distribution): Constantin Film, filmdelights, Filmgarten, Filmladen Filmverleih, Luna Filmverleih, Panda Lichtspiele Filmverleih, Polyfilm Verleih or Stadtkino Filmverleih** – and is scheduled in a fixed evening program slot for seven consecutive days.

* The distributors must include international independent theatrical films in their catalogue and must have released at least three ÖFI-funded Austrian feature films within the past five years.
** New Voices films qualify for AF Basic Service but not for AF Full Service.
 

EXCEPTIONS

Exceptions may be made 

1. for films that have received production funding from both BMWKMS and ÖFI+, provided they are either directorial debut films* or films by directors whose previous work has already been represented by AUSTRIAN FILMS.

* Directorial debut: The director must not previously have had a feature-length film (minimum 70 minutes) screened in cinemas, on a platform or at a film festival. 

2. in the case of an invitation to one of the following festivals / sections:
- Sundance Film Festival: World Cinema Dramatic Competition, World Cinema Documentary Competition
- International Film Festival Rotterdam: Tiger Competition
- Berlinale: Competition, Berlinale Special, Perspectives, Panorama, Generation, Forum 
- CPH:DOX: DOX:AWARD Competition, other competitions only if the invitation is a world premiere
- Festival de Cannes: Compétition, Un Certain Regard, Hors Compétition, Séance de Minuit, Cannes Première, Séances Spéciales, Semaine de la Critique, Quinzaine des Cinéastes, ACID
- Karlovy Vary International Film Festival: Competitions
- Locarno Film Festival: Concorso Internazionale, Concorso Cineasti del Presente, Fuori Concorso, Piazza Grande
- Venice International Film Festival: Concorso Internazionale, Fuori Concorso, Orizzonti, Venezia Spotlight, Giornate degli Autori, Settimana lnternazionale della Critica
- Toronto International Film Festival: Gala Presentations, Special Presentations, Discovery, Platform, Centrepiece, TIFF Docs, Midnight Madness
- San Sebastián International Film Festival: Competitions
- IDFA: International Competition, nicht-kompetitive Sektionen nur bei Weltpremiere International Competition, non-competitive sections only if the invitation is a world premiere

3. in the case of winning the main prize in the competition of one of the following festivals: 
- Visions du Réel Nyon
- DOK Leipzig

FULL SERVICE  BY AUSTRIAN FILMS

• Viewing of the film by AUSTRIAN FILMS
• Advice on & development of an international distribution strategy
• Festival booking: pitching, submissions, provision of screening and PR materials, negotiations of screening fees, etc.
• PR work via AF's communication channels, interviews, etc.

BASIC SERVICE BY AUSTRIAN FILMS
A film that has not yet secured an Austrian distributor, but already meets criteria 1 and 2 may benefit from AF-basic service.

• Viewing of the film by AUSTRIAN FILMS
• International visibility in the "Coming Soon" section of the website
• Pitching at meetings with international partners
