Abenteuer eines Traumes

Adventure of a Dream

Adventure of a Dream is the autobiography of a 20-year-old Romanian, Valentin Nita, and his dramatic flight from Romania to Austria after Ceausescu's fall in 1990. Reverend Gotthart finds him a temporary job and a place in an integration course. The Reverend August Janisch in Hartberg, the first victim of a series of letter bombs because of his work with refugees, helps Valentin enroll at the BORG-Hartberg public school for a trial year. After this year, Valentin is admitted as a regular pupil. After his application for refugee status is denied, Caritas Hartberg and the province of Styria provide financial support. Thanks to the courageous help of his teacher and principal, Valentin is granted an Austrian visa, and Reverend Janisch finds foster parents and a new home. Six years later, in 1996, Valentin graduates with honors. This film clearly renounces xenophobia, and especially the cowardly letter bomb attacks.
