Bataa is twelve years old, he has big warm eyes, long hair dyed blue - and he is a Neanderthal boy. Sophie is a girl from the big city who attempts to flee her 'patchwork' family. In the wilderness of the Alps the two children meet and despite all differences, they become friends: finally the girl is able to return to her family while the boy is reunited with his ancestors.
