In the heat of the summer. An isolated house in the countryside between woods and corn fields.Ten-year-old twins wait for their mother. When she comes back, her head wrapped in bandages after plastic surgery, nothing is as it was before. Stern and distant now, she shuts the family off from the outside world. GOODNIGHT MOMMY: Austria’s entry for Best Foreign Language Film
It has cult potential stamped all over it, wrote The Hollywood Reporter after its world premiere at Venice Orrizzonti 2014. Now, after 70 participations at international festival and 14 awards, GOODNIGHT MOMMY, the intriguing genre debut by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, has been selected the Austrian submission for the 2015 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
GOODNIGHT MOMMY back to a second life.
Four years after its world premiere at the Venice Festival 2014 the English-language remake of the pychological chiller by Veronika Franz & Severin Fiala is set on tracks by US-producer Animal Kingdom and French production partner Playtime. GOODNIGHT MOMMY will be re-imagined by director Matt Sobel, the shooting is scheduled for summer 2019.
