Das Filmjahr 2014 mag noch so fulminant mit elf (Ko-)Produktionen allein bei der Berlinale begonnen, mit Premieren in Cannes, Venedig, San Sebastián einen noch so glänzenden Verlauf genommen haben, in der Bilanz 2014 schlägt die Waage diesmal dennoch auf der Seite der Verluste aus.

THE DARK VALLEY: Austria's entry for Best Foreign Language Film

Andreas Prochaska's powerful literary adaptation of the eponymous novel by Thomas Willmann was selected the Austrian submission for the 2014 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. THE DARK VALLEY, which debuted earlier this year at the 64th Berlin Film Festival, stars Sam Riley as a grim and lonesome rider who gradually gains acceptance in a remote Alpine village... because he is intent on settling an old score.
